Business has been suffering in San Diego and with General Dynamics and Convair layoffs, we have an economic emergency on our hands. What has worked in the past when San Diego was small and underdeveloped no longer makes sense. Indeed, we have seen residential developers and their banks fail after taking profits out of the community for the last 10 years. At least some of this money should have been invested in San Diego’s future. There can be no future for the community without industry and its high paying jobs.

We need a bold new leader in San Diego, someone who is thinking about the next 10 years, and not merely trying to protect the status quo. Peter Navarro has demonstrated that he is willing to take on the powers that be and the issues that affect our community. He is a planner and a man with a vision. We don’t need another person to “simply manage” business as usual, we need someone who will work with business to create a better tomorrow.
