As the product of California public schools, I am appalled at the state of public schools these days. When I read about teachers having to purchase school supplies with their own money, I realize how lucky I was when I attended public schools.
Now Bruce Herschensohn wants to reduce federal support of education even further by eliminating the Department of Education. What kind of lunacy is this? The schools need help from all of us--parents, teachers, concerned citizens, and not least, federal, state and local government.
Because I care about the education and future of our children, I’m voting for Barbara Boxer.
