Federal Trial of Keating Begins: With the convening of potential jurors, the criminal fraud, conspiracy and racketeering trial of Charles H. Keating Jr. and his son began in federal court in Los Angeles. About 250 prospective jurors were given 40-page questionnaires and told to answer the 99 questions about themselves, their families and their views on such things as investments and the savings and loan debacle.
