More Cuts at Lockheed: Lockheed Missiles & Space Co. says the cancellation of a secret Pentagon program will force the layoff of 500 workers and out-of-state transfers for 155 other employees. The new cutbacks will be carried out by the end of 1993, officials said. The company announced that it would transfer 155 workers from its main Sunnyvale, Calif., plant to support its fleet ballistic missile program at three sites: Bangor, Wash., Kings Bay, Ga., and Cape Canaveral, Fla. Lockheed Missile’s space systems division will also eliminate 500 positions because part of a major classified program was canceled last week by Congress, the company said.
