Doctor-Assisted Death Measure

Share

Re Carol Gills’ (Commentary, Oct. 21) poignant and brave acceptance of her respirator as “user-friendly,” over medical pessimism of her long-term prognosis:

She is obviously a fighter. There is nothing in Prop. 161 that would induce her to accept a physician-assisted death--unless she wanted it. Indeed it is as much a choice issue (over our own body), as is the abortion issue. She sounds like a perfect example of an undaunted spirit, for whom Prop. 161 would have no effect--and that is as it should be. Everyone should have that choice.
