Ringing PacBell on Its Rare Phone Books

On a recent visit to friends in France, I noticed terminals in their homes, used to get telephone information without operator interface.

Also, rather than having coin telephones, it was necessary in most cases there to use a special credit card.

The card can be purchased from many stores and the amount of debit you would like is programmed. When the amount is spent, you buy another card.
