Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, traditionally support candidates of the Republican Party. The people who have lived most of their lives under dictatorship prefer more conservative foreign policy and less interference in domestic economy, which to some extent conforms to the platform of the Republican candidates. Often in the understanding of Jewish voters who came to America from the countries of the former socialist camp, the word Democrat associates with the meaning of Socialist.
