Biopool Gets Go-Ahead on Diagnostic Kits
Biopool International Inc., a Ventura firm that produces medical diagnostic kits, has received approval from the Food and Drug Administration to market two new kits.
The first, called the Minutex D-Dimer, tests patients for deep-vein thrombosis or blood clots, said Michael D. Bick, Biopool’s chief executive. He said the kit is less costly and takes less time than other tests now being used.
The other new product, Spectrolyse pL/PAI, is used to measure circulatory levels that could indicate further risk for heart-attack patients.
Bick said he is “very optimistic” about market reception of the two kits.
