MGM Relocating Headquarters to Santa Monica: The studio, now owned by the French bank Credit Lyonnais, will leave its longtime hometown of Culver City for the newly named Metro Goldwyn Mayer Plaza in Santa Monica’s Colorado Place development. MGM’s offices will be assumed by Sony Pictures, which plans to relocate nearly 700 employees from its Burbank facilities and rename the building Sony Pictures Plaza. Colorado Place is owned by Los Angeles builder Maguire Thomas Partners with International Business Machines as a partner.
