Luther Whitington; Magazine Editor and Writer, News Reporter

Luther Whitington, 35, the senior features editor at the Advocate, a national gay magazine, a contributing editor to Art & Auction magazine and before that a Moscow correspondent for United Press International. More recently, he had been UPI’s fine arts reporter in its Los Angeles bureau. He also wrote several articles that became the basis of television documentaries, among them “Teen Suicide,” a “20/20” broadcast. He was a native of Memphis, Tenn., and died in Los Angeles on Tuesday of the complications of AIDS.
