Palestinian Demands in Peace Talks

According to your article (Nov. 10), the Israeli government promises to make life “intolerable” in Lebanon, if attacks on its borders do not cease. As a survivor of Israeli atrocities in Lebanon, it is very hard for me to imagine things getting more “intolerable” than they are now. The Israeli government and its supporters still don’t get it. It is precisely because things are so “intolerable” in south Lebanon, due mainly to their occupation, that the attacks are occurring. The Israelis cannot deny us what they have (statehood) and expect us to let them enjoy it. Things have become so “intolerable” among Palestinians and Lebanese that we believe in the concept of “any means necessary.” This doesn’t mean that I’m condoning violence, it simply means that leaders from all sides would better rush a fair and just solution to the conflict. The Israeli government needs to concentrate itself fully on the talks, and refrain from making ridiculous and inflammatory statements such as making our life “intolerable.”
