Audubon Trip--South Coast Audubon is hosting a field trip to the Back Bay area in Newport Beach on Saturday.

Birds likely to be spotted include a variety of shorebirds and ducks, gulls, terns, predatory birds and sparrows.

Those who would like to participate in the trip are asked to meet at 8 a.m. at San Joaquin Hills Road and Backbay Drive in Newport Beach. To reach the meeting point, take the Jamboree Road exit from the San Diego Freeway and head west. Turn right on San Joaquin Hills Road and take it to Backbay Drive.

Wetlands Tours--Guided public tours of the Bolsa Chica wetlands will be held Saturday morning. The tours, sponsored by Amigos de Bolsa Chica, will depart every 20 minutes beginning at 9 a.m. from the wetlands’ ecological reserve. The last tour will leave at 10:30 a.m.

Those who would like to take the tour are asked to meet at the ecological reserve on Pacific Coast Highway about half a mile south of Warner Avenue, across from Bolsa Chica State Beach.

Park Replanting Day--A planting day sponsored by the county Harbors, Beaches and Parks Department will be held at Yorba Regional Park on Saturday.

Work will begin at 7 a.m. The area to be replanted lies between the Santa Ana River and the park’s lakes.

Be sure to bring gloves and a shovel.

Groups participating in the event include the Sierra Club, Friends of Tecate Cypress and Tree Releaf.

Yorba Regional Park is at 7600 E. La Palma Ave. in Anaheim.

When participants enter the park, they should let the entrance guard know they are there for the planting day. They will be directed to the work site, as well as be given a waiver on the park admission fee.

Upper Newport Bay Tour--Guided tours of the Upper Newport Bay Ecological Reserve, sponsored by the California Department of Fish and Game, are now being offered every Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.

The tours are free. Those who would like to go on a tour are asked to meet at Shellmaker Island off Backbay Drive in Newport Beach.
