NICE AND EASY

Kelli Freed was shot to death because a teen-ager misinterpreted the universal gesture that warns a driver when a car’s headlights aren’t on. The incident suggests that we shouldn’t extend courtesies on the road today. But the citizens of Los Angeles are not at war, and we should not live as if we are.
