Sierra Madre : Composting Effort to Begin
The city will begin a home composting program in January to encourage residents to recycle their yard clippings and food scraps.
A demonstration site is planned at the community garden in Memorial Park. The city will also partially subsidize the cost of compost bins for residents.
A kick-off presentation is scheduled for Jan. 9 at 10 a.m. in the city yard, 611 E. Sierra Madre Blvd. in conjunction with the Christmas tree recycling program.
Workshops to educate residents about composting are also planned.
