San Gabriel : $81,183 in Budget Cuts OKd

Share

Directed by the City Council in October to comb the budget for more reductions that would leave essential services untouched, city staff identified $81,183 in cuts which the council unanimously approved Tuesday.

Among the items trimmed were many travel allowances for city employees and the council, a partial subsidy to students at San Gabriel High School for use of the city pool in Smith Park and some training for firefighters and police.

The council delayed until next year the possibility of lowering benefits paid for temporary disabilities to city workers outside the police and fire departments.

City Administrator P. Michael Paules said the cuts were needed, in part, because the recently approved utility users’ tax will not yield revenue until May, 1993.
