LONG BEACH : Sailor Jailed in Rapes of 2 Women Kidnaped at Mall
- Share via
A 22-year-old sailor was in jail Wednesday on suspicion that he raped two women after grabbing them at gunpoint at a Long Beach mall last month.
An anonymous tip led police to Lamar Thomas, a cook aboard the Long Beach-based Ingraham, investigators said Wednesday. Police arrested Thomas, of Houston, after one of the victims identified him through a photo lineup Tuesday afternoon, said Shannon Beddo, a special agent with the Naval Investigative Service.
On Nov. 2, a Redondo Beach resident was kidnaped from the Long Beach Plaza parking structure, taken to another location and assaulted. On Nov. 19, a second woman was attacked in her car at the parking structure.
