COSTA MESA : Culinary Students’ Dinner Raises $2,500

Orange Coast College culinary arts students have raised $2,500 at a “Culinary Salute Dinner” here.

Three local chefs who recently competed in the Culinary Olympics in Frankfurt, Germany, were honored at the dinner.

Proceeds will be used to send six Orange Coast students to compete in the second annual Baron Galand Culinary Knowledge Bowl next August in Orlando, Fla.

For the dinner, two dozen culinary students prepared a five-course meal working under the guidance of Orange Coast chef and instructor Bill Barber. The menu included roast breast of duck.

The dinner, attended by 100 guests, was sponsored by the Culinary Arts Club in cooperation with the Culinary Apprenticeship Program of Orange County.
