Top N.Y. Prosecutor Quits

NEW YORK —
Otto G. Obermaier, U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced Wednesday that he is resigning effective Feb. 1. Overmaier was appointed by President Bush in 1989 as chief prosecutor in the Manhattan office, which has 200 attorneys.
