Ford Slashes Prices on Capri: The auto maker cut prices of its Mercury Capri by as much as 12.7%, or $2,235, to spur lagging U.S. sales of the small Australian-built convertible. Ford said the base price of the 1993 Capri was cut to $13,640 from $14,827. An option package worth another $1,047, which adds features such as air conditioning and cassette stereo, will be included at no charge. Base price of the Capri XR2 was cut to $15,390 from $17,625.
