Sachs’ comments are an example of why so many people find the message of “card-carrying” feminists such as herself to be hollow. Mainstream feminism has long overvalued priorities such as power, freedom, pleasure and, as in this case, fun to the neglect of love. Closet feminists such as myself refuse to accept malevolent attempts at humor. She sanctions his unkindness because at least he pays a black woman to be his sidekick. Is inconsiderateness the way to cope with “grim times” or part of the cause?
