Children: Family’s Assets Need Respect

Share

I am writing to share my opinion of Lynn Smith’s article, “The Parent Trap” (Nov. 18).

What an insult to the courageous and dedicated parents who choose to become better trained and informed on how to raise their kids with research-proven and successful child-rearing methods.

Parenting is no mystery or hit-or-miss endeavor. Kids learn to respect their parents when parents respect their kids. Kids learn to make decisions and become self-reliant and responsible in society by practicing being responsible and self-reliant in their own home.

Parent training can give parents the knowledge and skills to put these essential concepts to work on the most important assets they will ever create--their children.
