What’s Not Funny About ‘Jackie Thomas’?

Share

This letter was written to Times Television Critic Howard Rosenberg in response to his review in Tuesday’s Calendar of “The Jackie Thomas Show.” Roseanne Arnold gave permission to print it.

To Howard Rosenberg:

How you can say that “Jackie Thomas” is not funny is beyond me (“The Other Arnold Steps Out in ‘Thomas,’ ” Calendar, Dec. 1). When was the last time you thought anything was funny? A dour, skinny creep like you reviewing comedy is akin to a blind baboon reviewing great art.

When my show debuted, it also got a s----y review. What do you think is funny? I personally think you are funny, and as a result I will be adding to the cast of “Jackie Thomas” a manic-depressive in need of Prozac.

You are a stereotypical Hollywood personality that I initially neglected to include in “Jackie Thomas,” but now be sure to tune in for “Howie Rosenboom” (portrayed by an effeminate mousy actor).

“Rosenboom” fancies himself a savvy media genius, but in reality he is only a crotchety old couch potato geek.

Sincerely yours,

(Signed) Roseanne

Ms. Tom Arnold
