Developers the Same Worldwide

Regarding “Ahmanson Is Bad Deal” (Times Valley Edition Letters to the Editor, Nov. 28), although I fully agree with Ms. Altmann’s position on the Ahmanson development, her statement that “You don’t see them bulldozing the French countryside outside of Paris” is inaccurate.

Having just spent 18 months in a suburb of Paris, watching acre after acre of old-growth trees and prime farmland replaced by ticky-tacky tract houses (in an economy in even worse shape than ours), I can assure you that developers the world over seem to be united by a common bond: Get rich, and the forests and animals and people be damned.
