School District Hikes Its Developer Fees

Share

An increase in both residential and commercial developer fees was approved Tuesday by the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District.

The residential rate was increased from $1.58 to $2.65 per square foot, and commercial fees were raised from 25 cents to 27 cents per square foot.

According to Mike Bailey, director of facilities and planning, the increase would bring the total developer fees to $6,203.65 for an average-size detached house in the district and to $2,687 for an attached dwelling.

The substantial increase was permitted by legislation passed in the November election. The state had recently authorized a 7-cent increase in residential developer fees and the passage of SB 1287 allowed school districts to increase developer fees by an additional $1.

The fee increase will go in effect in two stages. Beginning immediately, residential developments will be charged $1.65 per square foot. The additional $1 increase will go in effect Jan. 1.
