County Municipal Judge Ken W. Riley moved up to the Superior Court a few weeks early on Thursday, thanks to an appointment by Gov. Pete Wilson.
Riley, a judge since 1988, was elected in June to the Superior Court seat that had been held by Bruce A. Thompson. But Riley’s six-year term was not supposed to begin until January.
When Thompson retired in early November, court officials asked Wilson to consider moving Riley into the vacancy. On Thursday, Wilson agreed.
