Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has called for a new campaign against video films to protect Iranian youth against Western cultural influence.

In a speech reported by Tehran Radio Friday, Khamenei also voiced concern about an anti-Islamic trend in Iran’s universities.

The twin warnings appeared to underline worries about the popularity of Western cultural values among both the Iranian masses and the elite.

“Video has turned into one of the principal means of spreading decadence and moral corruption,” Khamenei told members of a cultural policy-making body.
