Kostoff’s 45 Lead Irvine Valley to Victory

Chris Kostoff scored 45 points, including 11 three-pointers, as Irvine Valley beat Imperial Valley, 114-111, Saturday in the third-place game of the Riverside Holiday Tournament.

Kostoff, a freshman guard from Capistrano Valley High, had 18 points in the first half, including four three-pointers. He made his first four shots in the second half, all three-pointers.

He finished 14 of 28 from the field and 11 of 23 on three-point tries in the game. His 11 three-pointers are a school record for Irvine Valley (7-4), which is in its first season of competition.

Gabe Higa added 18 points and Paul LaMott 16 and 10 rebounds for Irvine Valley. Chris Bethel had 25 points for Imperial Valley (7-7).
