BCCI Liquidators Sue Saudi Bank: A federal suit aimed at helping defrauded investors of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International is seeking $10.5 billion from Saudi Arabia’s largest commercial bank and its owners. The suit was filed in Washington by court-appointed liquidators of BCCI, the worldwide bank that was seized last year by regulators. The suit names National Commercial Bank of Saudi Arabia, the country’s largest bank, with close ties to the royal family, and Sheik Khalid bin Mahfouz. The sheik, a former BCCI director, was indicted by a New York grand jury in July on charges that he and an associate defrauded BCCI customers of $300 million.
