Monrovia : Second Firetruck Ordered

Share

The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to purchase a second new firetruck in a package deal with one truck already ordered in October.

The purchase of the second truck, from Haaker Fire Equipment Co., was not anticipated until 1995, Fire Chief Ernest Mitchell said. But because the city had already ordered a new truck and the company had all the specifications for that one, the company offered to package the two at a saving of $26,511 to the city, Mitchell said.

The new truck will also save maintenance costs on a less reliable firetruck that will be taken out of service. Altogether, the two fire engines will cost $494,708 from the city’s fire equipment fund.
