Navistar to Give UAW Seat on Board: Navistar International Corp. will give the United Auto Workers union a seat on its board as part of an agreement to slash the company’s liability for $2.6 billion of retiree health care costs. Navistar, a Chicago-based truck and engine manufacturer, said the UAW agreed to have about 63,000 retirees begin sharing in the cost of their future health care benefits. The change will reduce Navistar’s liability for future health care costs to $1 billion from $2.6 billion, a major step in the company’s drive to save $200 million annually.
