LAGUNA NIGUEL : City Employees Will Get 4% Salary Hike
Effective Jan. 1, city employees will receive a 4% salary increase.
The increase, which was unanimously approved by the City Council earlier this month, will not apply to elected officials.
Assistant City Manager Pam Lawrence said the 4% raise applies to all 35 city positions. The previous salary increase was 5%, given 18 months ago.
Annual salaries next year for the top-paid employees are: City Manager Tim Casey at $108,768; Public Works Director Ken Montgomery at $93,600; Community Development Director Robert Lenard at $83,640; Director of Finance Dennis Muira at $76,452; and Traffic Engineer David Rogers and Planning Manager Bill Cunningham at $67,764 each.
Lawrence said that the increase is partially based on a survey of other Orange County cities and puts the Laguna Niguel salary schedule near the middle of that scale. The raise is being paid for with money saved when the city recently switched health insurance carriers.
