Students Can Get Grades by Phone

For the first time in Ventura County, students at Moorpark, Oxnard and Ventura colleges can get their fall semester grades through a touch-tone telephone system, officials said.

Cumulative grade point averages and fall semester grades will be available over the telephone beginning late next month, Moorpark College spokesman Gerry Olsen said.

“It will save us a lot of money, and students will be able to get their grades faster,” Olsen said.

The colleges spend about $4,000 per semester mailing grades to students, Olsen said. The phone system cost about $12,000, he said.

Students can also continue to obtain transcripts of their grades at the colleges, Olsen said.
