The family of an aerospace executive who was found in Las Vegas last week four months after he had vanished canceled a press conference scheduled for today and issued a written statement that said Rowland Snowdon was undergoing “intensive medical and psychological evaluation.”

The statement by the executive’s son, Rick Snowdon, 25, said the family was relieved to spend the Christmas “holiday alone in order to begin piecing the family back together.”

His statement failed to shed any new light on the case, however.

According to Irvine police investigators, Snowdon, an executive at Parker Hannifin in Irvine, disappeared without a trace on the morning of Sept. 1 after making a cash deposit at a Union Bank branch in Irvine. Police investigators got their only clue in early October when Snowdon’s 1989 Buick Park Avenue was spotted along Interstate 15.

Finally, last week, while Las Vegas Police Department officers were making random checks of license plates in a Las Vegas hotel parking lot, the car was spotted again and Snowdon was located in one of the hotel rooms, according to Irvine police investigators.

Rick Snowdon thanked the police and others who carried out the investigation “for not giving up this mission to find our father, at a time when almost all hope was lost.”

“Our father continues to receive intensive medical and psychological evaluation,” Snowdon said. “No interviews can be granted at this time. However, if more details develop, they will be made available.”
