Ensuring a Safe Entry Into ’93
It is a foregone conclusion that many New Year’s Eve revelers will imbibe their way into 1993. What has yet to be determined is how many of the tipsy party-goers will make it home safe and sound.
One simple way to prevent an accident or a prolonged stay at your local pokey is the designated driver program. If you’re planning on hoisting your spirits with spirits, this just might be your best bet for a happy beginning to 1993.
To ensure the safety of partying patrons, many Ventura County restaurants and clubs will offer free nonalcoholic drinks to all “designated drivers.”
“All you have to do is tell the bartender or waitress you’ll be driving your friends home and you get all the free soft drinks, juices and coffee you want,” said Joanne Harmon of Stingers Nite Club in Ventura. “You’re crazy if you don’t.”
“If you are having a party at home, make sure you keep track of the guests,” California Highway Patrol Officer Staci Morris said.
“Take responsibility to know how each person is going to get home. And provide a good alternative for transportation.”
