Why? Why? Why? Why?
Just when we thought Los Angeles was rid of him--he’s back! This time former Police Chief Daryl F. Gates is not driving us crazy with his policies but boring us senseless as the newest right-wing addition to KFI (“What’s Behind KFI’s Firing of Tom Leykis?”). I have only four questions for anyone who will listen: Why, why, why and why?
Come on! Didn’t those guys at KFI fathom that “The Chief” on the air is about as stimulating and controversial as Ernie challenging Bert on “Sesame Street”? The only controversy on the show was when we listeners white-knuckled it while Gates stumbled and bumbled over which button would bring the commercial spot.
No one challenged Gates. No one. Most of the callers I heard were either conservative men or police officers.
Why did KFI replace an innovative, funny, diversified guy like Leykis with a total snoozer? LESLIE FALKNER
