Chrysler Plans Its 1st New Subcompact Since 1970s: The Neon will be sold through Dodge and Plymouth dealerships beginning in February, 1994, as a 1995 model. It will be Chrysler’s first all-new subcompact since the Plymouth Horizon and Dodge Omni were introduced in the late 1970s. Chrysler will break tradition by selling the American-made car under one name, rather than giving it two separate labels, in order to cut marketing costs and increase chances of being profitable, the company reported. The Neon will feature a cab-forward design to increase interior room.
