TOPANGA : ‘Tis the Season for Making Mulch

Share

Christmas tree recycling will continue this weekend at the Topanga-Las Virgenes Resource Conservation District office in Topanga Canyon.

The recycling operation, which also accepted trees last weekend, will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The trees will be chopped up and used for mulch in Los Angeles County parks and other locations, according to County Supervisor Ed Edelman.

Those interested in recycling their trees must ensure that they are free of objects such as hooks, nails and tinsel. In return for their trees, they will receive a coupon for a free bag of potting soil and a discount coupon for the California Museum of Science and Industry’s IMAX Theater.
