Czechoslovakia, playing its last junior tournament after the Jan. 1 breakup of the country, finished third in the World Junior ice hockey tournament at Gavle, Sweden, by defeating Canada, 7-4. Canada had clinched its sixth world title on Saturday. The United States, which beat Finland on Monday, 5-3, finished fourth.
