Car Sales in Japan Fall 7.2% in 1992: Total motor vehicle sales in Japan slumped for the second consecutive year in 1992, falling by 7.2% to 5.33 million vehicles, the Japan Automobile Dealers Assn. reported. Sales have been down from year-earlier levels in every month for the last 20 months with the exception of June, 1992. Import sales fell 7.7% from 1991, the dealers group said. Sales of passenger cars fell 8.6%, trucks slumped 3.6%, and buses slid 9.3%.
