Dental Hygienists

Under the editorial “A Thought for the Forgotten Half” (Dec. 30), a sentence stated “a brilliant young woman who hoped to become a physician might have been tracked into dental hygiene.”
Dental hygiene is a recognized health profession in its own right. A degree in this profession requires four years of university training. Hardly a non-skilled job for untrained high school grads.
