An infant who survived eight hellish days of snowy weather along with his parents in isolated northwest Nevada has been given a clean bill of health.

Family members said 5-month-old Clayton Stolpa was discharged Friday night as a patient from Washoe Medical Center, but will stay with his parents in their room at the hospital.

The parents, Jim Stolpa, 21, and his wife, Jennifer, 20, both of Paso Robles, Calif., remained in satisfactory condition Saturday with severe frostbite to their feet. They will not know for several weeks whether amputation will be required.

“The baby is in excellent condition,” said Todd Stolpa, Jim Stolpa’s brother. “There’s nothing wrong with him. . . . It’s amazing how well he came through all this.”
