Controversial Quote

In a recent article on snowboarding (“Snowboard Siege,” Jan. 18) the writer quotes Lee Crane, (managing editor of) Transworld Snowboarding magazine, saying that it is possible to do anything any day of the week, such as “surfing, bungee jumping, drive-by shooting, and snowboarding.”

I cannot believe that any responsible person would indicate that drive-by shooting is a sport in Southern California or anywhere else. The Times should apologize for printing that quote and Crane should be chastised for saying it.
