A Unique Form of Judicial Activism

Share

If the public defender’s allegations are substantiated (“Court’s Policy Leaves Poor With No Defense,” Jan. 17), it seems that Judge (Claude E.) Whitney practices his own unique form of judicial activism. That is, those of a certain ethnicity and/or economic class are more deserving of the constitutional right of representation afforded under the law.

What a bleak commentary on our society that someone with the obvious advantage of education, trusted with a judicial appointment, can exhibit such blatant racism coupled with an apparent contempt for certain classes. Judge Whitney’s arrogance is matched only by his ignorance.
