Who Will Pay for AIDS in Military?

Re “Quiet War With the Military” (Dec. 6, Dianne Klein column): The issue of homosexuals in the military is certainly debatable at this time, and there are always cogent arguments for and against. However, I feel it is obvious why the gay and lesbian lobbies are pushing their position so vigorously. That is, when (not if) they contract AIDS, it will be a military responsibility to furnish long-term care for them.

You might consider a follow-up article on how and whether military hospitals are proposing to handle this influx of patients.

There is no question in my mind that our bright and knowledgeable men and women in the media have considered this reasoning, yet it has not been mentioned, to my knowledge. Why? Also, in battlefield conditions, what will be the policy of the medics and to what extent will medical assistance be offered?

I believe this is a serious question that should be addressed quickly and thoroughly.
