SAN FERNANDO VALLEY : Women Pilots to Offer 3 Scholarships

The San Fernando Valley chapter of the Ninety-Nines Inc., an international organization of women pilots, will offer three $1,000 scholarships to residents of the greater Los Angeles area who are interested in aviation.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and plan to pursue aviation-related careers in academic or flight schools. Previous scholarship recipients include mechanics, aircraft designers, engineers and pilots.

To obtain information, applicants can send a stamped, self-addressed, business-sized envelope to Melinda Lyon, 11300 Linda Flora Drive, Los Angeles 90049.

Forms must be postmarked by April 1.

The local Ninety-Nines chapter, based in Van Nuys, also sponsors events such as flight instructor clinics and cross-county air races.
