In response to Terry Pristin’s article “Hollywood’s Family Ways” (Jan. 31), I’d like to point out that, historically, Presidents have hired brothers and, more recently, wives; doctors bring their offspring into their practices, and “So-and-So and Son” is a time-honored entrepreneurial tradition.

Those of us in Hollywood who have the opportunity to hire our wives, children and friends are no different from those in other professions. In the final analysis, who among us can’t benefit from a break somewhere along the line?

But capitalizing on it requires talent, hard work and dedication--qualities that most of those mentioned in Pristin’s article possess in abundance.
