Parsons Wrong on Colorado Boycott

Share

Dana Parsons recently wrote a column defining reasons not to support the boycott of Colorado’s anti-gay law (“You Don’t Have to Hate Gays to Keep Loving Colorado,” Jan. 20).

Frankly, I was disappointed by Mr. Parsons as he has a good reputation for supporting civil rights. Mr. Parsons seems to have adopted the philosophy that ignoring bigotry and hate will make it vanish. Would his new formula work to restore the broken and demolished body of the man recently “bashed” to near death in Laguna Beach? Perhaps Parsons’ new beliefs would bring back to life civil rights martyr Medgar Evers.

Colorado’s “innocent” repeal of its rights law will encourage and foster bold designs to deprive citizens of existing freedoms.

America must always send the message that a majority vote is not permitted to transgress one inch of personal liberty.

Mr. Parsons used Perry Mason as an example that truth and justice eventually prevail. However, Colorado is the real world and Perry Mason is mere fiction.

Laws in general protect us from the evil of our world, not acquaint us with the good and kind population.

Millions of Americans are hoping, praying and boycotting so that the good citizens of Colorado and this columnist reconsider their initial impulses.
