Trampling on Rights, Door to Door

Share

Once again the “anti-abortion”--or perhaps better stated “anti-rights”--groups have violated certain rights in their campaign for goodness.

On Jan. 9 they roamed the streets of Placentia leaving graphic material at people’s doors. I do not wish to rehash the issue of abortion, but rather to point out that parental rights were violated.

In my case, they had to unlatch a security gate and then come up the steps to a front patio to get to my door. They left a graphic illustration of a mutilated baby on my doorstep. The Placentia police say it is OK because they had a license. I contend they do not have a license to expose my daughter to this type of picture. It did have a special notice to parents. What makes these people assume an adult will pick up this disgusting literature?

I resent the fact that they have decided when, how and who will explain the sensitive issue of abortion to my daughter. I also do not believe the city of Placentia has the right to give out licenses that supersede these parental rights.

I hope that both the “anti-abortion” groups and the city of Placentia demonstrate responsibility and concern for the children of our community.

I also hope that they take into account that parents are the ones to decide when and how a child is to be exposed to these issues.
