Spelling Out the Soaring Human Spirit

I appreciate Michael Quintanilla’s article, “Spelling Out the Accomplishments of the Mind and Heart” (Jan. 24), on three levels.

The article demonstrates that the satisfaction of achievement can be a continuance throughout life, even if the memory fades. We all need to realize that from the beginning to the end the quintessence of life is in the appreciation of individual moments.

Second, having worked at Windsor Manor for more than two years, I can attest to the fact that the portrayal of the individual residents of Windsor Manor’s Health Center and their outstanding activity director, Janice Paknik, was brilliantly accurate.

And last, I feel that Quintanilla’s excellent article may convince others of what those of us in this field know for a fact: that while the body and mind may become frail, the human spirit can soar on and on.
