CIA Shootings Suspect Tipped Off, Pakistani Says

QUETTA, Pakistan — The Pakistani who is the prime suspect in the killing of two CIA employees was tipped off that U.S. agents were looking for him, authorities said Saturday.
Mir Aimal Kansi, 28, had returned to his family’s home in Quetta on Jan. 28, three days after the shooting deaths outside CIA headquarters in McLean, Va. He is suspected of killing two employees and wounding three as they drove into the compound.
On Saturday, a senior Pakistani law enforcement official said that a friend of Kansi in the United States told him Monday that the FBI was looking for him.
That was the day Kansi disappeared from Quetta. The FBI identified him as a suspect Wednesday.
Pakistani officials say they have been unable to find a motive linking the CIA shootings and Kansi, but they promised to help the FBI find him and extradite him to the United States.
The officials said they suspect that Kansi has fled either to Afghanistan, Iran or to the Middle East.
